Welcome to the ramble

Hi — my name’s Ryan and this is my place. I’m a professional blogger who loves to write… of course. (It’d be pretty stupid if I didn’t enjoy writing.)

If you love to read weird and wonderful things, then you’ve come to the right place. You’ll soon find that I cover all sorts of topics… usually the first thing that comes into my head. It’s also worth pointing out that I do paid work… hence the ‘professional’ part of ‘professional blogger’, so please get in contact with me if you’d like me to cover something for you. Maybe you have a business that needs some promotional work. Maybe you’re launching a product. Maybe you’re trying to raise awareness or promote an event — it really doesn’t matter, I do it all.

What’s on my mind at the moment? Well… lots of things, BUT there is one thing in particular. Traveling! When I was younger, I used to travel everywhere — I loved it. I think the love of traveling started in my childhood, where my parents would cart my sister and I all around the states. My folks weren’t the type to pay for flights and hotels — nooooooooo — we were more like the family in National Lampoons. Funnily enough, my dad did look very much like Chevy chase. Anyway… I’ve traveled most places in the states. You know… we live in a beautiful country — it’s stunning in places. How many of you take the time in your busy schedules to stop and look around… not a lot I’m wagering. Seriously, more of you should get out and about in your spare time, it’ll be well worth it.

Where am I going with this? I continued to travel once I left home. When I started to earn money I used to see how far I could make it stretch. I started of hitch

hiking about the states. I know, I know… it’s not the safest thing to do… but trust me… use your common sense and you’ll be fine.

Once I was done with the states I decided to go further afield… on a budget of course. I would hitch hike to an airport and wait in the departure lounge for a cancellation. I’d challenge myself to see how far I could get with the money I had. One time in my early twenties I sat in the departure lounge for 38 hours. It was well worth it as I bagged a flight from the States to Thailand, one way, for $400 dollars! First class!

I spent a month in that country and wow, what a month, I’d go back in a heart beat. The food is amazing, the geography is mind blowing and there’s tonnes to do. Not to mention the nights out. You can rent a scooter for a day for about five bucks and you can eat a large meal for about the same. The worst bit about that trip was when I got drunk and fell asleep outside. I’ve never had so many mosquito bites in my life!
